Karaoke Host - Long Beach CA

Some may be wondering, what the heck happened to this
blog? Well, to be honest, a lot has been going on.

I've been a Karaoke Host for some time now. I have over
35,000 songs in English and over 2500 songs in Spanish.
You can catch me playing at one out of 3 places and I'm a
regular K.J. at a Karaoke Bar in Lakewood, Ca.

I have a blast every Saturday playing tunes for singers
and singing the latest tunes.

My Favorite Songs to Sing

1. Bleeding Love - MP3 Download
2. No One - MP3 Download
3. Give Me One Reason - MP3 Download
4. Quitame Ese Hombre - MP3 Download

This is just to name a few. If you're looking for a
Karaoke CDG and you can't find it, visit
Karaoke Music Store and see if you can locate the
CDG you're looking for.

Well, drop a comment if you'd like to see when we'll
be at on next Saturday for Karaoke. If you're looking
for somewhere to perform Karaoke in the Long Beach,
Lakewood, Artesia areas, let us know. Ciao for now.

Spanish Songs - Salsa and Ballards

Wow,

It's been a long time since I posted on my Karaoke blog.
I've been on Myspace and have had a great deal of traffic
on my profile. The only problem is, Myspace hangs up
my computer for some strange reason. Now, I'd rather
post on here.

A lot has developed since I've written. Now I have at
least six spanish songs under my belt. I can't believe it.
I love singing Angelica Maria, Daniella Romo, and a
few male Salsa artists.

Karaoke is such a beautiful experience. It allows for
us to venture out into other cultures. My next adventure
will be to learn 99 Balloons in German. Yikes!

I'll keep you posted on the developments and my next
post, I'll be sure to give a list of the spanish songs I sing.

Take care fellow singers and break a leg at your next
performance.

Tweaking Notes On Karaoke Songs

Last night one of my best friends and great
KJs let me listen in her headsets to find the
right key to one of the songs I was singing.

It's a bummer to know how to sing a song and
not have the right key!

It was the Betcha By Golly Wow song by Phyllis
Hyman. On my home system, I drop it 2 notches.
On the karaoke machine she has, I have to knock
it down by 4 notches.

Her system is in 1/2 notes and mine is full notes.

Something else I discovered is, when we drop a song's
notes, we can also higher the notes in the same amount
of levels and sing the song perfectly.

When we lowered the song on her system by 4, I raised
it by 4 and could still sing the song on key.

This is just my way of sharing technicalities when
singing karaoke songs :o). Amazing the things we
learn as we go.

I did add four songs and now it's time to perfect them.

We have to consider the crowd we're singing to and be
able to adjust our song list accordingly. I learned
a long time ago, it's not how well we sing a song, it's
how well the audience remembers our songs (most of the
time, not all of the time).

Take care and I'm taking a night off from singing tonite.
Look out tomorrow. It's on! Karaoke, here I come.

Practicing A New Song

Gosh, have you ever noticed that karaoke singers get caught up
in different eras?

The other evening, there was a much older gentleman at one
of the places I sing at and he loved the older songs that many
of us sung.

I belted out One Less Bell to answer. It was really great singing
this song. It reminded me of when I used to sing in the livingroom
with my mother as a kid.

I've almost have Hang on to Your Love down. Still working on a
couple of areas. It went okay though.

All of a sudden, I want to learn Jody Watley's song, "Real Love".
We used to jam to this song back in the day lol.

Right now, I'm identifying karaoke songs I want to sing on
my Sound Choice CDG. :o)

Well, guess I'll get off of here and start practicing Real Love
and The Answer Boy Is You.

Take care and happing singing.

Attepting Harder Songs

Well, last night I sang a harder song.

Hardest Song

Can't say that I sing a great deal of Aretha, yet
last night's attempt was a winner! I'm still
figuring out when to sing through my nose and
when to project notes through both nose and mouth.

Not sure if that makes any sense, yet there are certain
notes that tonality wise sound better when you adjust
your technique. Guess you can say I'm still learning.

Fun Song - 1st Song I Ever Sang On Stage!

Last night I also sang the first song I ever sang
on stage. "Only the Lonely" by the Motels.
Wow, I had a ball! At least I can say I sing it
a whole lot better than what I did in the 80's.

It sure feels good to have people clap while you're
singing your song. Most of the people in the audience
remembered the song which helps and I'm glad
they enjoyed it. :o) So did I.

New CD-Gs

Yesterday I invested in two new CD-Gs. One was
Erica Badu and the other had Sade's Hang On To Your Love.
The latter CD-G has other songs that I'll sing along with
Sade's.

Sade is my favorite singer and I think I'm one of the
few that will sing her songs. I've been singing Karaoke
for a few years and I've only seen 2 people sing Smooth
Operator. I'm not really sure why very few people
will sing her songs in my area.

Sade has a very unique voice and she uses a great deal
breathing control and I wasn't aware of this until I
started singing her. She extends most of her notes
and has such a way of sounding romantic.

I did notice that Hang On To Your Love had to be
sung differently than her most recent songs. Not
sure why. In some ways I have to say that this
song was in one of my harder songs since I've only
sang the song twice. Only have about 3 rough spots
that I'm working on.

The last song that I had a ball with last night was
"I Won't Last A Day Without You", by the
Carpenters. Wow, that was another fun song.
Karen has such a beautiful full voice.

The first time I heard this song was at an
Air Force singing competition. The young
lady that sang the song had a sweet 2nd
soprano voice and pulled it off beautifully.

Not until last year did I find the song on a CD-G
and start attempting to sing it. It's not a song
I sing often, yet last night it was another winner
song.

Next Week's Agenda

Next week I'm determined to add two more
songs and finishing learning, "The Answer Boy
Is You", by Phyllis Hyman (Hardddd song but
I'll make it easy :o) )

Wow! Can You Believe This??

Wow, I'm singing again and loving it! Many years ago
I sang with a couple of bands and it didn't go to well.
I used to get stage fright!

When I used to sing, my legs used to shake so bad that
people often asked if there was a wind machine on stage.
lol.

Things are really different now, I sing weekly. There are
a few songs I really enjoy singing. I'm also working a few
songs that I've always wanted to do.

The big thing I'm working with is range and breathing.
I'm not a pro yet I really work hard on the various
techniques of singing. It's not like work, I really
enjoy it. Well until later.
